Sydney Metro – North West Rail Link SVC Project

The Sydney Metro North West Project is providing a new metro service from Chatswood through to Sydney’s Rouse Hill.

It consists of eight new railway stations and will run every four minutes at the peak. Sydney Metro Northwest, formerly the North-West Rail Link, is the first stage of Sydney Metro and will be the first fully- automated metro rail system in Australia. The Surface & Viaduct Civils contract (SVC), consists of the construction of a four-kilometre sky train between Bella Vista and Rouse Hill and includes other surface works such as bridges, embankments, and cuttings.

Agonis Group’s Role

Agonis Group was approached directly by Sydney Metro following difficulty with the incumbent contractor. Our approach in assisting and correcting constructability issues and implementing a rigid planning and scheduling process has received commendation from the Secretary of Transport in NSW.

The Project was successfully brought back into schedule and we have been retained by the client in a leading role in the management of contractor claims.

The key learnings from the Project are providing an invaluable source of information for the development of significant other projects. These include providing detailed constructability inputs from the reference design stages through to final completion to ensure program, time, and budget risk is mitigated and resolved early within the project life-cycle. This knowledge is being cascaded across other Sydney Metro projects and other key projects being managed by Agonis Group across Australia.
