LAP Extension – Malabar Wastewater System Feasibility Study

Agonis Group recently completed an assignment for Sydney Water to assess options of extending a DN900 rising main or installing a gravity sewer in the Ashfield area of Sydney.

Although much smaller in scale than the GPOP scheme, the assessment had many similarities. Agonis Group was required to develop solutions for constructing both types of assets and the expected durations and project costs.

Once completed, the client could determine which methodology to specify (HDD or Trenching) and compare pricing with the gravity sewer alternative.

The client was also able to consider the other factors that have a substantial influence when making these decisions. This case particularly impacts the local community, traffic disruption and early works requirements, including access and utility diversion.

This experience in Sydney’s urban environment will be a key advantage when considering similar schemes.
