Malabar Wastewater System – Constructability Advisors

Sydney Water commissioned Agonis Group to conduct a comprehensive constructability assessment aimed at bolstering the capacity of the Malabar System, a critical component of Sydney’s wastewater infrastructure. The assessment focuses on two primary approaches: enhancing the Southwestern and Southern Ocean Outfall Sewer (SWSOOS) capacity or diverting flows into a dedicated pipe, both directing effluents to the Malabar Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).

Agonis Group were engaged to deliver Constructability Advisory Services for a comprehensive, long-term plan to maintain wastewater services within the Malabar system. In close partnership with Sydney Water and relevant stakeholders, our dedicated Constructability, Planning, and Estimating (CPE) team evaluated three potential network upgrade options. These options encompass TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine), pipejacking, and open-cut construction methods.

The CPE team’s primary objective was to assess each option’s constructability, considering key risks and opportunities, alignment recommendations, program timelines, estimated disruptions, traffic management considerations, and stakeholder and utility interactions.

Agonis Group is dedicated to successfully implementing a sustainable and efficient wastewater services maintenance plan for the Malabar system by leveraging our expertise and working closely with Sydney Water and key stakeholders.
