The Public Transport Projects Alliance (PTPA) is between the Department of Planning, Transport & Infrastructure, McConnell Dowell, Mott MacDonald and Arup. The key project of the Alliance is the removal of the Oaklands rail crossing, located 12.8km south of Adelaide on the Seaford train line at the intersection of Morphett and Diagonal Roads; and the Port Dock Railway construction. The existing Oaklands Crossing imposes congestion and traffic delays on Morphett and Diagonal Roads due to the operation of boom gates for trains along the Seaford rail corridor. The Port Dock Railway extension will improve transport access to Port Adelaide.

Agonis Group’s Role

We were commissioned by McConnell Dowell to provide estimating, constructability, planning, and strategic design and construction staging during the bid phase. Upon Contract Award, Agonis Group has been retained to provide project management services during the design development and delivery phases. We form part of the Alliance Management Team and are leading multidisciplinary rail project management in an Alliance that is expected to grow significantly in scope.

Agonis Group was selected based on our knowledge of both development and construction work from both a client funder and contractor perspective. We identified project risk early in the Tender and demonstrated mitigation strategies that we are now incorporating into the design development and planning phase to ensure that delivery meets both budget and time objectives while aligning with stakeholder operational and maintainability requirements.
